They’re designed to go over sound, existing timber.
If the timber behind is rotten, bowed, or the gutter is pulling away, you’ll need full replacement fascia instead — otherwise you’re just covering a problem.
Do Smart Buy Chartwell Green boards come with a guarantee?
Yes — the foiled finish comes with a 10-year manufacturer’s guarantee.
In reality, installed properly, they’ll last far longer. Most failures I see aren’t the board — it’s poor fixing or bad timber underneath.
What fixings should I use?
Use colour-matched polytop pins or nails (typically 30mm–65mm depending on what you’re fixing into).

Can I fix gutter brackets through a capping board?
Yes — but only if the timber behind is solid enough to take the load.
The bracket goes through the board and into the timber.
If the timber isn’t strong, the gutter will eventually pull away — that’s when you should’ve gone full replacement instead.
Are matching trims and accessories available?
