The Envirotile slate half tile is the 365mm x 175mm version of the slate tile — half the width, same interlocking system, same riven slate face. It is what closes a course at a verge, runs either side of a valley, and squares up a hip without you cutting full tiles down and losing the fixing nibs.
 
Work on one per course at each verge. On a straightforward gable that is two halves per course, so count your courses off the rafter length at 280mm gauge and order accordingly. They cost a little more than a full tile — that is Eurocell's pricing on a specialist piece, not a mistake — but they are quicker and tidier than cutting, and the cut edge never looks right on a slate face.
 
Ordering and delivery. Envirotile comes out of your nearest Eurocell branch. Orders over £150 are delivered free to site; under £150 delivery is £10. Order the whole roof in one go and add 5–10% for cuts and wastage – it is the top-up order for a dozen tiles that costs you time.
