On any run longer than 5m two boards have to meet, and a joint trim is what stops that meeting looking like a mistake. Both board ends slide into the trim, the joint is closed, and the boards still have room to move with the weather.

A note on lead time. Irish Oak is a special foil rather than a stock colour, so most branches bring it in rather than holding it on the shelf. Allow 3–10 working days. Order the whole elevation together and it all lands at once — it is piecemeal ordering that causes the wait.
