A roofline finial caps the exposed end of a fascia board — usually where the run stops at a gable or a lean-to. Without one you are looking at a raw cut edge and a white core showing through the foil.
Small part, big difference. One for every board end that is visible from the ground, which on most houses means two.
A note on lead time. Irish Oak is a special foil rather than a stock colour, so most branches bring it in rather than holding it on the shelf. Allow 3–10 working days. Order the whole elevation together and it all lands at once — it is piecemeal ordering that causes the wait.
